Negative Bias
Thinking negative thoughts is essential. Our brains are designed to, among other things,
keep us safe. The brain has a negative bias. From the beginning of human history, our
very survival depending on our skill to dodge danger. And the incredible wisdom that is
our body developed systems that would make it unavoidable to us not to notice danger
and thus, hopefully respond to it.
Fast forward to today. We the environment has changed; however, our body-brain
system is the same.
What’s not essential, is a consistent pattern of negative thoughts. The pattern is a
learned behaviour that became a strong belief and then a habit that you created to keep
you safe, and it has served you UP UNTIL NOW – IT IS NOT WHO YOU ARE!
If you created the habit or the belief, then the opposite is true – you can change it. You
can create what you want with deliberate intention. The keys to change are simple, but
not easy.
Start With Self-Discovery
Happiness is not a destination. It’s not the pursuit of happiness; it’s the happiness of the
pursuit.
It’s not the journey or the destination – It’s who you become on the journey.
You don’t get self-esteem from the sixpack you get at the gym, you get self-esteem from
being the kind of person who goes to the gym every day. The weight doesn’t get lighter,
your back gets stronger.” -Jimmy Carr
What if the destination is the person you want to become?
What would you be prepared to put yourself through to make you the person you want
to become?
What if when you are going through the really, really tough times you look in the mirror
and you say, “I’m making you.” I’m not there yet, but I’m making you.
